Why Trying to Act Mature Isn’t Smart

People often ask me, “How can I become more mature?” But what maturity is really?

Biological maturity naturally occurs by the age of 25, without any effort on your part. However, after 25, the body only declines. From that point, pain increases, neurons decrease, bones weaken, cell production slows down, height shrinks, and so on. The moment you reach maturity, the downfall begins. Just like a ripe fruit starts to decay and gets eaten by insects, the same applies here.

People who act as if they are mature lose the ability to learn and unlearn, and their growth comes to a halt. Maturity means reaching the peak of your growth, but thinking that growth has a peak is the biggest form of immaturity. Growth is a never-ending process with no final destination. You will always be closer to immaturity than maturity because that finish line of maturity is infinitely far away.

Believing you have become mature (which is just lying to yourself and pretending to be mature) stops you from growing. You no longer strive to grow, to update yourself, or to learn something new. When you believe you’ve reached the finish line, why would you keep running? And when a person stops learning and growing, it marks the beginning of their end. From that point on, it’s all downhill.

Fixation is death, growth is life, maturity is death, and immaturity is life.
